A Look at Insight Communications

About the Company

Insight Communications® is the 13th largest cable TV, Internet and phone provider in the U.S. with around 750,000 customers, predominantly in the Midwest. Started in 1985 and headquartered in New York City, Insight Communications mainly provides service to Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio. Insight’s largest services area is Kentucky, particularly the Louisville area.

For several years Insight had a partnership with Comcast in some Midwest markets. The two companies had equal ownership of the systems in those markets, but eventually broke up the partnership in 2007. Originally just a cable provider, Insight has worked to develop their business and offer other services like high-speed Internet and digital phone. Though it’s out of the top ten cable providers in terms of size, the company has received awards for the quality for some of their individual services, like being named one of the top four Internet providers by PC World.
