About the Company
Cablevision® is within the top ten largest cable providers in the United States. Headquartered in Bethpage, NY, Cablevision provides cable television, Internet and phone services to millions of customers, predominantly in the northeast.
Started in 1973 as a cable television provider in Long Island, Cablevision now runs one of the largest cable clusters in the country, serving millions of homes and businesses in the New York metropolitan area. As a company rooted in such a large market, it’s not surprising that Cablevision is also heavily vested in the city it provides services to; from 1997 to 2010 the company was a majority owner and operator of Madison Square Garden. They also operate several exclusive stations in the New York market, including News 12 Networks, Newsday, MSG Varsity, a suite of television and online services that covers local area high school sports, and more.
Cablevision offers customers cable television, high-speed Internet, and phone services through their Optimum® brand.
Services
Cable TV
Cablevision’s cable television plan goes under the name of iO TV® and it includes HD games of all nine New York sports teams, exclusive channels like News 12, MSG Varsity, Wedding Central, Optimum Homes® and Optimum Autos®. iO also offers more than 120 HD channels, On Demand movies and an optional DVR upgrade.
The iO Sports Pak includes 19 sports channels that include just about every sport that hold televised events. Other sports channels include NHL Center Ice, ESPN Full Court, NBA League Pass, ESPN GamePlan and more.
Like other cable providers, Cablevision has triple play packages that offer reduced or discounted prices for services. iO TV also features online connectivity that enables photo sharing and viewing of pictures on websites like Facebook.
Internet
The Optimum online service has a number of packages that increase in download and upload speeds. Their fastest option, Optimum Online Ultra offers speeds up to 101 Mbps.
Optimum online users can also gain access to Optimum Wi-Fi, a large wireless network available in shopping centers, sports arenas, travel spots and more. Users just need to use their Optimum ID and password to access the Wi-Fi network through a laptop, cell phone, or other wireless device.
Phone
As with other major cable providers, Optimum Voice, the Cablevision phone plan, offers unlimited calling to the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico in their base package. Additional features include call forwarding, do not disturb, three way calling, caller ID, and caller ID on iO TV to name a few.
Availability
Cablevision is a primarily available in the northeastern states, like New York , New Jersey, Connecticut. It’s also available in parts of Pennsylvania.
